What is the "safety plan" exactly?

Is safety plan defined by this competition or it's defined by doctors?

  I found something about that:

  By this presentation, a "safety plan" is a plan of things to do in a suicidal crisis (talk to X and Y, go to X...).

  thanks all- not all safety plans are the same, but the Lifeline's example is a good start for building one.
